How do I use multiple devices?
Our standard internet package allows you to have one device registered to your account at any one time. If you are wanting to register more devices to your account you will need an add-on called 4Connect*.
The 4Connect add-on allows you to have a total of 5 devices registered at any one time to your account, you can add the 4Connect add-on to your account by logging into your ask4 account and visiting the “Manage Connections” section.
You will need to ensure that the MAC address of each device is registered to your account before that device is able to access the internet. A MAC address is the unique identifier for your device’s network adapter, the easiest way to add this to your account is by connecting your device to the ask4 network and trying to browse to a web page. The ask4 welcome page should appear and you can click on the option for “I already have an account but I am using a new device”, you can then log into your account and click on the button that says “Change to the computer I’m using” and clicking “Save” – this will add your new device to your account. It is also advisable to add a label to the device such as “Sony Laptop” or “Xbox 360″ as this will help to identify which device is which on your account.
Please note that the 4Connect is just an add-on package that allows you to connect a total of 5 devices to your account, it doesn’t provide any extra equipment that will allow you to connect multiple devices at the same time and doesn’t provide access to any wireless networks. If you are wanting to use multiple devices simultaneously then you will need to use a network switch or wireless access point which you would connect to the network socket on your wall and then connect your various devices to that piece of equipment. We sell network switches and wireless access points on our online shop which come with free technical support – ask4 Shop
If you already have a wireless router then you may be able to reconfigure it to operate as a wireless access using the instructions on the following page – Reconfigure your router to act as a wireless access point
*The 4Connect add-on may be subject to an extra fee, the price of the upgrade will be displayed in the “Upgrade and Add-ons” section when logged into your ask4 account.
